Christian Myths about Gay Marriage

For the first time in the history of the United States of America, two persons of the same sex can now legally obtain a marriage license in all fifty states. The reaction to this ruling from the Supreme Court has been extreme and divisive on both sides of the argument. Some are overjoyed, many are sympathetically supportive, and others are outraged. Personally, my heart is heavy. Primarily because there are so many false narratives being advanced by people who claim to be disciples of Christ. Because I know the attacks are going to come let me start by saying a few things that I sincerely believe to be true. While I am a disciple of Jesus Christ and as such, I share the biblical view on homosexuality, I am not aggressively attacking those who have chosen this lifestyle. I do love you, pray for you, and deeply desire to hear you, know you, eat with you, and understand you. Furthermore, I would like to ask for forgiveness from those of you who have been shamed, slandered, slurred, and humiliated by my brothers and sisters of the faith. Finally, if my comments below and in subsequent posts share this unholy  spirit in your mind or heart I humbly ask that you would contact me so I can seek forgiveness from you as well. My goal in these posts is simply to present what I consider truth on this issue based on my current understanding of culture, church, and ultimately scripture. Christian Myths about Gay Marriage             Over the past few days, I have been monitoring the news, web, and social media closely. One of the most astonishing revelations for me has been the lack of biblical […]

The Purpose Of The Church Pt. 3

Over the last three weeks I have been presenting some of the main purposes of God’s church.  As I travel around and speak about the Uncommon Church I am always surprised to learn how many churches don’t understand what the most basic and fundamental purposes of God’s church are. So these posts have been my effort to share nine of them.  In my first post I talked about the purpose of producing disciple, providing resources, and proclaiming the gospel. In my second post I talked about the church’s responsibility to propel missionaries, present proof, and practice holiness.  Today I would like to briefly discuss the last three. To Pray- Every Christian knows that they are suppose to pray, and most of us do.  But I am talking about focused corporate prayer here in this post.  I believe that God hears all of our prayers but He does something special when a church practices uncommon prayer together. In my book The Uncommon Church I talk in detail about the power of uncommon prayer.  When the body of Christ unites together in prayer many wonderful things happen.  We see this in scripture in places like 1 Thessalonians 5:25 when Paul urged the church to pray for him and his companions.  In Acts 12 we see an amazing miracle in the form of a prison escape for Peter and we learn that the church was gathered in prayer for him during his captivity. As individuals we must pray, and as a church body we must pray as well.  Churches should make it a priority to unite their minds and hearts in prayer! To Protect- 1 Peter 5:8 tells us that our enemy is a predator on the prowl!  Like […]

Muslims Burn Christians to Death in Pastor’s Home in Nigeria | Christian News Network

These kinds of stories never make the evening mainstream news.  It seems like the civil rights people would be all over this story but because it was an attack on Christians few seem to care.  We must never forget our brothers and sisters around the world that suffer these kinds of attacks daily. Pray for the persecuted church!

Iran Again ‘Orders Execution’ Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani

BREAKING: Iran Again ‘Orders Execution’ Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani (Worthy News In-Depth) | Worthy Christian News. I have been praying along side of many others for Pastor Youcef and I am certain that God has heard my prayers, so why has he not been released yet?  Why have the prison doors not miraculously been opened?  I may be labeled a fool for attempting to understand things like this but it seems to me that because Iran continues to hold Pastor Youcef, his testimony and faith continue to inspire many to follow Christ.  Iran will learn what many other nations have learned in the past, the more you persecute believers the more believers you have to deal with.  The church has been under great persecution since Jesus first departed for heaven in the book of Acts. Many kings and kingdoms have attempted to exterminate Christians; however each attempt has only advanced the faith.  I am not certain what God’s will is for Pastor Youcef, but I am certain that my God will work everything together for the good of those who love Him.  Pray for this pastor, and pray for the millions of other believers who face similar kinds of persecution this very day.

I Will Do To You What I Did To Them!

Today you read about a challenge to the east coast to follow through to the west coast even though they have already received God’s blessing. “Don’t stop with your blessing east coast, follow through until the west coast get theirs, and you will be blessed some more, but if you don’t….. “your sin will find you”” Moses says.East Coast has no problem with saying, “we will stick with you until the end”. Moses also warns them all don’t be like your dad’s and miss out on God’s blessing in receiving the promise land or God will send you back out into the sand to die like they did….. Man, after having 40 years of sand in their pants these guys have no problem with moving forward. Again, this is old testament and God is just as strict now as He was then except Jesus has paid our price. So, that brings to question our sin and God’s limit! At what point does He say, “ That’s it! You are going to stay in the desert until you die! I will still provide for you, I will still care for you, but you now lose out on the promise I have for you, I will pass it on to your descendants instead”. I pray that we never find that point, that we are not a part of a generation that gets stuck in the sand, but that we would be a generation of God’s people that will move forward into what He has in store for us.Stay in His Word, act on His promises, and I pray you get out of the sand of where He doesn’t want you and you get into the land of […]
