I voted today. Normally I don’t endorse or explain my vote but I feel our country is facing a very difficult future and now more than ever we need the right leadership. I voted for Senator Ted Cruz and would ask that you consider supporting him as well. Why did I vote for Ted Cruz? Well not because I think he is perfect or will solve all of our problems. Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. He alone is perfect, but Jesus was not a choice. None of the choices are perfect, and they never will be because they are humans. I voted for Ted Cruz because I believe he loves Jesus, loves his family, loves his country, and loves humanity. He is principled, dedicated, not easily enticed, and willing to stand, and stand alone if necessary. He has tremendous leadership ability and I believe he more than any other presidential candidate can unite our country.

I know many are saying that Trump is going to be the nominee and we better get use to it. They are voting for Trump simply because they don’t want to be on the losing team. However keep in mind this is a primary. You should vote for your first pick, the person you think will be the best overall pick, not who you think will be the final pick. I could not vote for Trump because every time I think of him this passage comes to mind.

Matthew 7:15–18 (NET) —15“Watch out for false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are voracious wolves.16You will recognize them by their fruit. Grapes are not gathered from thorns or figs from thistles, are they?17In the same way, every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. 18A good tree is not able to bear bad fruit, nor a bad tree to bear good fruit.

Like most of you, I have known Trump for years through the news, television, etc. For many years I have felt that he produced poor fruit. The way he treats people is not the way I would want to be treated or the way I think God calls his followers to treat people. Additionally I just don’t think he is as conservative as he claims to be. I think he is good at making great deals for himself, and that’s what he is trying to do again, make a good deal for himself not us. If he wins, we lose because the deal always works in Trump’s favor and no one else’s. The things he has supported and the views he has expressed most of his life have changed way too fast to convince me that his convictions are real. I think he is telling everyone what they want to hear, and pretending to be someone we want him to be so he can make another great deal for himself. Sounds like a wolf in sheep’s clothing to me. America needs grapes and Trump I fear is nothing but a huge thorn bush.

I think Ted is a good tree, not a perfect tree but a good one. He has produced good fruit; he bears good fruit on his branches. So I cast my vote for him today, and I hope you might consider doing the same. Finally let me say what America needs most is not a new President. No one person is going to fix the problems we face. What we really need is a revival, true repentance, humility, and a deep and never ceasing desire to follow God. May God bless all of you today!
