Adam & Eve
The Bible is full of stories of messy people encountering a merciful God. In fact, the Bible begins with some messy people we know as Adam and Eve.
In Genesis 3:8–10, Adam and Eve hear the sound of God walking in the garden after they have eaten from the forbidden tree. Overcome with guilt and fear, they hide themselves among the trees. When God calls out to Adam, he responds by admitting his fear because he realized he was naked, which is a direct result of their disobedience.
This passage highlights the broken relationship between humanity and God caused by sin. Before this moment, Adam and Eve enjoyed open fellowship with God, but now, shame and fear replace intimacy and trust.
Pastor Pete uses this backdrop for a powerful message that emphasizes how sin leads to separation from God, but also how God still seeks out humanity, initiating the conversation and offering a chance for accountability and restoration.
