Abraham & Fear
In Genesis 12:1-4, God calls Abram (later known as Abraham) to leave his homeland, family, and everything familiar to go to a land that God will show him. God promises to bless Abram, make him into a great nation, and make his name great. He also promises that through Abram, all the families of the earth will be blessed. In response, Abram obeys God's command and departs at the age of 75, taking his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, and all their possessions.
Later, as Abram enters Egypt due to a famine, he becomes afraid. He fears that because Sarai is beautiful, the Egyptians will kill him to take her. So he asks Sarai to say she is his sister, not his wife, to protect himself. This deception leads to complications and shows a moment of weakness in Abram’s journey of faith.
