God Has a Name

"I AM WHO I AM." - Exodus 3:14

There is a moment in Scripture where Moses stands before a burning bush, overwhelmed, confused, and uncertain. God calls him to something far greater than himself, and Moses has one very practical question. Who do I say sent me? In other words, who are You?

God doesn’t respond with a title or a job description. He doesn’t say, “Tell them the Creator sent you” or “Tell them the Most Powerful One sent you.” He simply says, “I AM WHO I AM.” That’s it. That’s His name. Yahweh.

God’s name reveals something deep. He is not defined by anything outside Himself. He is not becoming something new, growing into something greater, or evolving into something better. He already is. Always has been. Always will be.

This is massive because it means God is not just an idea or a force. He is a Person. A real, present, knowable being who chose to reveal Himself to us by name. And when God gives His name, He is inviting us into a relationship. You don’t share your name with someone unless you’re inviting connection.

The name Yahweh carries a weight that goes beyond our comprehension. It means He is the God who was, and is, and will be. The unchanging One. The constant in your chaos. The same God who met Moses in the desert is the same God who meets you where you are now.

You might be asking questions like Moses did. Who am I to do this? What if I fail? What if they don’t listen? What if I’m not enough? But all of those questions are swallowed up in the name of God. Because when “I AM” is with you, it doesn’t matter what you’re not.

His name is Yahweh. That means He’s enough. He’s present. He’s not going anywhere. And He’s not done writing your story. Let that truth steady your heart today.
