God’s Calling Looks Different for Everyone
"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men." - Colossians 3:23
It is easy to assume that purpose only applies to certain people. The ones on a stage. The ones with a title. The ones who seem like they were born for ministry. But what if you have been called, too? What if the very place you wake up to each day is part of God’s plan to reach others?
Colossians 3:23 isn’t just advice for working harder. It’s a calling to live with eternal intention. God never said the only meaningful jobs were inside church walls. He simply said to do whatever you do for Him. That means your construction site, your classroom, your kitchen, or your cubicle can all become places of worship when you work with the right perspective. You do not need a platform to walk in purpose.
If you belong to Jesus, your life is already on mission. You are a representative of His love, His patience, and His truth wherever you go. The way you handle stress at work, the way you treat your family, the way you respond to criticism, or serve without being seen. It all matters. You are not invisible to God, and your calling is not lesser because it looks different.
God has placed you where you are for a reason. Maybe the people around you will never step foot in a church, but they will work next to you. Maybe they will never read the Bible, but they will watch how you live. That is not pressure, it is purpose. Your mission field is not somewhere else. It is wherever your feet are today.
When you realize that, everything changes. You stop waiting for a sign and start showing up with significance. You were not meant to drift through life wondering if you matter. God’s calling for your life may not look like someone else’s, but it is no less sacred. Walk into your day like it counts, because in Christ, it absolutely does.
