Grace That Sets You Free

"…He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins." – Colossians 1:13-14

Some people spend their whole lives trying to earn what God has already given. Others keep living like prisoners even after the cell has been unlocked. If you’ve ever carried guilt like a chain around your soul or tried to outrun your past like it’s chasing you down, today’s verse is for you.

This passage in Colossians reminds us that salvation is not just about forgiveness. It’s about freedom. God didn’t just cancel your debt. He picked you up out of one kingdom and placed you in another. That means your identity has changed. Your authority has changed. And your location has changed. You are no longer under the rule of darkness. You’ve been relocated into the light of Christ.

But here’s the thing, you can be free and still live like you’re not. If you don’t believe you’ve been transferred, you’ll keep operating by the rules of the old system. You’ll try to earn grace instead of receiving it. You’ll struggle to forgive yourself for what God already forgot. You’ll settle for survival when you’ve been called into victory.

Now, what does it mean to live like someone who’s been set free? It means you stop trying to prove yourself and start walking in confidence. It means you let go of the shame that Jesus already carried. It means your past doesn’t get the final word anymore; grace does.

You were not just forgiven. You were transferred. That word alone changes everything. You are now under the reign of love, mercy, and power. The darkness has no claim on you anymore. It’s time to start living like grace really did what it says it did.
