The Resurrection Before the Grave
"Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?'" – John 11:25–26
Resurrection isn’t just something that happens after your heart stops beating. Jesus wasn’t only pointing to a future moment in a cemetery. He was talking about right now. There’s a resurrection that happens before you die. It’s the kind where dead things inside you come back to life. Where numb hearts start to beat again. Where shame, fear, and emptiness get replaced with peace, love, and purpose.
Too many people are waiting for heaven while missing the new life Jesus is offering now. They’re walking around breathing, but not really alive. They’re buried under regret or going through the motions of religion. But Jesus didn’t say, “I’ll raise you one day.” He said, “I am the resurrection and the life.” Present tense. Living faith isn’t about surviving this life until the next. It’s about being made alive right now.
In John 5:21, Jesus said the Father gives life to the dead, and so does the Son. That means He has the power to raise you today. To pull you out of spiritual sleep. To awaken purpose in your soul. To make you more alive than you’ve ever been.
If you’ve believed the lie that faith is just a ticket to heaven, you’ve missed the invitation. Jesus didn’t die just so you could float into eternity someday. He died to bring you into life today. Full life. Real life. Resurrection life.
I want you to ask yourself honestly, have you stepped into that resurrection yet? Or are you still waiting for something down the line? Jesus is not just the promise of what comes later. He is the life you were meant to live right now. Let Him raise you. Let Him wake you up. Let Him bring the dead parts of you back to life.

Wow, I never thought of His words there meaning present tense! But being born again as I was at 58, I understand intuitively how my spiri was brought alive. Thank you Pastor Pete for connecting those dots. Bless you.
