Sent for a Reason

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his possession, so that you may proclaim the praises of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” - 1 Peter 2:9

If you belong to Jesus, you have been called out of darkness. That is a beautiful reality. You are no longer stuck in your old life, no longer blind to the truth, no longer chained to the things that once ruled you. But that is only half the story. You were not just called out of something. You were also sent into something.

God pulled you out of the world’s brokenness so He could send you back into it with purpose. That purpose is clear: to proclaim His praises and make Him known. He did not save you just to make your life easier or more comfortable. He saved you so your life would become a billboard for His grace.

To see how seriously we’re taking that mission, it’s worth doing a little check-up. How many hours this year have we spent watching TV or scrolling social media? How often have we shown up to church or sung a few songs in worship? Now compare that to how many times we’ve told someone about Jesus. It’s convicting, isn’t it?

We are quick to enjoy the benefits of being chosen, but slow to embrace the responsibility that comes with it. This world is not just where we live. It is our mission field. You have neighbors, coworkers, family, and friends who are still in darkness. You may be the only person in their life who knows the truth. If you do not speak, who will?

Listen, your time matters. Your words matter. Your life matters. Every conversation, every relationship, every moment is an opportunity to point someone to the hope you’ve found.
You were not saved to sit still. You were saved to be sent. So open your mouth. Share the good news. Proclaim His praises. Someone’s eternity might be changed because you did.
