God Renews
“Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.” - Psalm 51:12
There are seasons when you are running on empty and barely notice it. You still go through the motions, but underneath the surface, your purpose feels blurry, your hope feels shaky, and your joy feels flat. This is exactly where renewal matters. Not just a better attitude, but a complete refresh of your spirit that only God can bring.
When God renews, one of the first things He often restores is your sense of purpose. You remember again why you're here. You remember that your life is not random, your work is not wasted, and your calling has not expired. That renewed sense of purpose might not show up with fireworks, but it breathes fresh courage into your ordinary days.
Then comes hope. Real hope. Not the shallow kind that says, “everything’s fine,” but the deep, anchored kind that says, “even if it’s not fine, God is still good and He’s still working.” That kind of hope comes when God reminds you that your current situation is not the end of your story. When He renews your hope, it changes how you walk through hard seasons.
And then there’s joy. The kind that isn’t based on circumstances. The kind that lives underneath the pain and the pressure. David prayed for this in Psalm 51 after falling hard, and maybe you need to pray the same thing today. Maybe you need God to renew the joy of your salvation. Not because you lost your salvation, but because you’ve forgotten how incredible it is.
God has a way of bringing us back to life when we’ve been going through the motions. He brings purpose when you feel directionless. Hope when you feel stuck. Joy when you feel numb. So if your spirit is worn thin, ask Him to renew you. He still does it, and He’s never run out of grace.
