Who Is Jesus?

“Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.” - Acts 2:36

Most people are cool with Jesus as long as He stays in the past tense. A wise teacher. A kind healer. A man who did good things and said powerful words. But the problem is, Jesus is not just a man from history. He is alive. He is exalted. And He is Lord.

In Acts 2, Peter stands up and preaches with boldness. He doesn’t tell them to simply remember Jesus. He declares that God has made Him both Lord and Christ. That means Jesus is not just someone we admire, He’s someone we answer to. He’s not just the guy who calmed storms, healed the sick, and walked on water. He is the Risen King who rules with authority over heaven and earth.

The demons knew it. In Mark 1, a man with an unclean spirit cries out, “I know who you are—the Holy One of God.” That spirit had better theology than most people. Because even hell recognizes His holiness. The question is, do we?

If we’re not careful, we’ll treat Jesus like a distant memory. Someone to be appreciated but not worshiped. Someone to quote but not obey. But Peter reminds us, Jesus is not just Christ the crucified, He is Christ the exalted. He is reigning, He is ruling, and He is worthy of everything.

What does that mean for you today? It means Jesus cannot be reduced to a footnote in your life. He doesn’t want a part of your heart. He wants the whole thing. He is Lord, whether you acknowledge Him or not. The only real question is whether you’re living like it.

You weren’t made to admire Jesus from a distance. You were made to surrender to Him. He is the Holy One of God. He is both Savior and King. Let your worship reflect that truth.
