The God Who Pitches His Tent with You
"And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us." - John 1:14
Most people believe in God on some level, but many picture Him as distant. Powerful, yes. Holy, yes. But close? Personal? Present in the everyday details of life? That is harder to believe. Yet this is exactly what John wants us to see. When he writes that Jesus “dwelt among us,” he uses a word that means to pitch a tent, to set up a home, to stay for good. Jesus did not visit this world. He moved in.
Think about that. The Creator of the universe chose not to watch from far away. He stepped into the same world you live in. He breathed this air, walked these roads, felt these emotions, and lived in the middle of the same brokenness you face. He did not choose comfort or distance. He chose closeness. He set up camp right where you are.
This is not just a theological truth. It is a personal one. God did not wait for you to climb up to Him. He came down to you. He did not love you from the outside. He entered your world so you would know that He cares, understands, and stays. His presence is not based on your perfection. It is based on His commitment to never leave you.
You may walk through seasons where you feel alone. You may face moments where the weight of life feels heavier than what you can carry. In those moments, remember this simple truth. The God who pitched His tent among humanity has not packed it up. He is still present. He is still near. He is still choosing to live where you live, walk where you walk, and meet you where you are.
You are never alone because God chose closeness. The One who moved into your world is the same One who stands with you today. Let His presence steady your heart, strengthen your spirit, and remind you that wherever you are, He is there too.
