Bless Someone Today
"Taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven, he blessed them and broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds." - Matthew 14:19
One of the most well-known miracles in Scripture is the feeding of the five thousand. It is the only miracle, outside the resurrection, that is recorded in all four gospels. That tells us something. It mattered deeply to the early church and the disciples who walked with Jesus. But maybe what gets lost sometimes in this familiar story is just how small the starting point was.
It all began with someone offering what little they had. Just five loaves and two fish. That’s it. But in the hands of Jesus, it was enough. He blessed it, broke it, and gave it, and it multiplied in a way that only God can explain. The result was thousands fed, and a crowd reminded that God sees them.
There’s a simple takeaway in that. When we bless others, even in small ways, God can use it to make a much bigger impact than we realize. A kind word. A small gift. An act of service. A message of encouragement. Those might not feel like much, but they are the starting point for something greater when placed in the hands of God.
The challenge today is not complicated. Look for three people you can bless this week. Be intentional about it. You don’t need a spotlight or a platform. You just need a willingness to bring what you have and let God do the multiplying. Someone in your life could be changed because of one simple act of kindness.
Jesus didn’t start with much. But He started. And that made all the difference.
