God Relates to You
"Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded." - James 4:8
One of the most overlooked truths in the Christian life is that God does not just rule from a distance. He draws near. He wants a relationship. And He does not wait for us to get everything figured out before He starts moving toward us. He meets us in the mess. He speaks into the chaos. He relates to us because He loves us.
God is not a cold, distant ruler. He is a Father. A Shepherd. A Redeemer. And one of the main ways He relates to us is through His Word. When we open the Bible, we are not just reading old stories or checking a religious box. We are engaging with the heart of God. His Word reveals who He is, how He loves, what He values, and what He wants for us. It is not just instruction. It is an invitation.
Think about what happened when the people in 2 Kings found the lost Book of the Law. First, God revealed Himself through it. Then, He renewed their hearts as they responded. But it did not stop there. He also related to them. He communicated His love, His justice, His mercy, and His desire to lead them forward. God did not ignore their past. He spoke into their present and offered a future.
That is what God wants to do for you, too. You might feel distant or unsure about where you stand with Him. You might be distracted or discouraged. But the same God who spoke to kings and prophets through His Word still speaks today. If you will open your Bible, He will meet you there. He will not just instruct you, He will connect with you. He will remind you that you are not forgotten, not abandoned, and not alone.
God relates. He listens. He speaks. He cares. The question is, are you giving Him space to do it? If you want to hear from God, start by opening His Word. He's not silent. He's waiting.
