Joy in the Middle of the Storm
"May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy." - Colossians 1:11
There is a kind of strength that does more than help you hold on. It fills you with joy even while the storm is still raging. That is what Paul prayed over the believers in Colossians 1:11. Not just for survival, but for endurance that is marked by joy.
Joy might not be the first word that comes to mind when life is heavy. When pressure builds and trials linger, joy can feel out of reach. But biblical joy is not dependent on conditions. It is not the result of everything going right. It is the fruit of staying rooted in the right place.
God’s power does not only pull you through. It transforms the way you walk through what you are facing. That includes giving you the ability to endure with patience and joy. Not fake smiles or forced positivity, but a settled confidence that God is present and working, even when the situation remains unresolved.
This kind of joy is not something you create. It is something God provides. That is why Paul prayed for believers to be strengthened by God’s might. Your own strength may waver, but His never will. Your joy will dry up if it depends on good news or easy roads. But if your joy is rooted in God, it can remain even in the storm.
You may not be able to escape the trial today, but you are not left powerless. God offers strength for endurance and joy to carry you through. The storm does not get the final say. His presence does.
If you are weary, ask Him for strength. If you are burdened, ask Him for joy. He is faithful to meet you where you are and carry you where you need to go.
