You Inherit What Cannot Be Lost

"Giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light." – Colossians 1:12

Every child born into a family receives something from their parents. It may be a name, a legacy, or even a material inheritance. But when you were born again into the family of God, you received something no earthly family could ever offer. That is, an eternal inheritance that cannot be taken, revoked, or lost.

Colossians 1:12 makes something clear. You didn’t earn this inheritance. You were qualified for it. Not by religious performance, not by perfect behavior, but by your Father’s mercy. He adopted you into His family and handed you a birthright that never fades.

That means when shame whispers that you are too messed up to be used by God, it is lying. When fear tells you that you’re one mistake away from losing His favor, it’s bluffing. The inheritance of the saints in light is not fragile. It is grounded in the finished work of Christ, not in your ability to keep it all together.

And what is that inheritance? It’s more than a promise of heaven. It’s the presence of the Holy Spirit in you today. It’s the unshakable love of God. It’s the peace that holds in the chaos. It’s a calling with eternal value, and a future secure no matter what today looks like.

You are not just surviving life, hoping to earn a reward. You are walking in the footsteps of a Savior who already secured the reward for you. As a child of God, you live from inheritance, not toward it.

So live boldly. You are not an outsider trying to earn your way in. You are family. And what God has given you, no one can take away.
