Do You Trust Him?
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding" - Proverbs 3:5
When Jesus asked, "Why do you call me 'Lord, Lord,' and don’t do the things I say?" He was not talking to people who rejected Him. He was talking to people who claimed to follow Him. People who knew the right words, sang the right songs, and maybe even went through the motions. But when it came time to obey, something was missing. For many of us, that something is trust.
We live in a world where trust is hard to come by. People let us down. Promises get broken. Leaders fail. And little by little, we learn to keep our guard up. We say we trust, but we hold back. That mindset can quietly creep into our relationship with God, too. We believe in Him, but we do not fully trust Him. We hear His commands, but we hesitate to follow through. We call Him Lord, but we live like we are still in charge.
That is not just a struggle of discipline. It is a struggle of belief. If you do not trust that God is good, you will never trust that His way is best. If you do not believe He sees the whole picture, you will keep relying on your own. And if you think obedience will lead you somewhere worse, you will always play it safe instead of stepping forward.
Trust is what turns knowledge into action. You can hear the Word every day, but if you do not trust the One who spoke it, it will never shape your life. You will stay stuck on the surface, building without a foundation, hoping the storm never comes.
But storms do come. And when they do, what you trust will be revealed. That is why Jesus calls us to dig deep. Not just into effort, but into belief. Into the kind of trust that says, even when I don’t understand, I will obey. Even when it is hard, I will follow. Because I believe You are good, and I believe You are enough.
So let me ask you, do you trust Him? Not just with your Sunday, but with your decisions, your future, your whole life? Obedience starts there. Not with understanding everything. But with trusting the One who does.
