The Slow Work That Lasts
"Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock" - Matthew 7:24
We live in a world that runs on speed. If it takes too long, we scroll past it. If we cannot see the results right away, we move on to something else. Fast is our favorite. Slow is frustrating. But when it comes to building a life that can stand through anything, Jesus makes it clear. There is no fast track. It takes time.
Laying a strong foundation is not flashy. It is slow, steady work. It means taking time to study the Word, not just skimming it. It means sitting with the truth long enough for it to shape how you think, speak, and act. It means showing up day after day, even when you do not feel like it, and letting God build something solid in you.
That kind of deep work is not popular. It does not get applause. And sometimes, it does not even feel like it is working. But when the storms hit, you will know the difference. A life built in a hurry will fall in a flash. But a life built over time, with patience and obedience, will hold firm no matter what comes.
Many people call Jesus Lord but never live like it because they do not want to wait. They want faith that feels good in the moment, not faith that is forged over years. They want the blessing without the discipline. They want the reward without the roots. But Jesus is not offering quick fixes. He is inviting you to build something that lasts.
So here is the challenge. Slow down. Make time. Stop chasing shortcuts that lead to collapse. Instead, take the long road with Jesus. Open His Word, even when you are tired. Apply it, even when it costs you. Build deep, not fast. You may not see the results right away, but they are coming. And when they do, they will not wash away with the next flood. Because anything built on the Rock is built to last.
