The Right Kind of Questionable

"The one who says he remains in him should walk just as he walked" – 1 John 2:6

When you really study the life of Jesus, it becomes clear pretty quickly that He didn’t live in a way that made sense to most people. He confused the religious elite, frustrated the powerful, and shocked the crowds. And yet, He lived with purpose, clarity, and compassion every step of the way.

The truth is, Jesus lived a life that was deeply questionable. People were constantly asking why He did what He did. Why He healed on the Sabbath. Why He hung out with sinners. Why He spoke with such authority. Why He forgave so freely. Why He suffered when He had the power to avoid it. And yet, in every move He made, Jesus revealed the heart of God.

Scripture doesn’t just tell us to admire Jesus. It tells us to walk as He walked. That means your life is supposed to raise some eyebrows. Not because you’re trying to be difficult or different for the sake of it, but because you’re walking in the footsteps of a Savior who never fit the mold.

So what does that mean for you today?

It means your motives might be questioned when you serve without expecting anything in return. It means your values might confuse people when you choose truth over popularity or purity over convenience. It means your choices might seem strange when you give generously, forgive freely, or love those who mock your faith.

But none of that should surprise you. If you’re living like Jesus, people will question you just like they questioned Him. And that’s not a sign you’re doing it wrong. It may be the clearest sign you’re doing it right.

Don’t chase the approval of a world Jesus never tried to impress. Stay rooted. Stay faithful. And let your life ask the kinds of questions that only Jesus can answer.
