What Do You Want?

"Jesus said to him, ‘What do you want me to do for you?’ And the blind man said to him, ‘Rabbi, let me recover my sight.’" - Mark 10:51

When Bartimaeus cried out to Jesus in Mark 10, the crowd tried to silence him. But he just got louder. He knew what he wanted, and when Jesus asked him directly, “What do you want me to do for you?” He did not hesitate. He had a clear desire, and he was not afraid to ask for it.

That question from Jesus is still being asked today. He’s asking you, “What do you want me to do for you?” That’s not a question for people who are undecided or indifferent. It’s a question for someone bold enough to cry out, someone with a heart full of faith, someone who actually knows what they need from Jesus.

But here’s the truth. A lot of people don’t really know what they want. They are surrounded by noise, weighed down by stress, and distracted by stuff, but they haven’t stopped long enough to name the desire that is sitting quietly in their soul. Maybe that’s you. Maybe you’ve lost sight of what you’re even hoping for. If so, let this be your reminder that it’s okay to pause, to pray, and to get honest about what’s really stirring in your heart.

Desire isn’t selfish when it’s surrendered. God already knows what’s on your heart, but He still wants you to bring it to Him. The ask is free. It may cost you a little pride. It might mean speaking out when others would rather you stay quiet. But when Jesus is near and He’s listening, why wouldn’t you ask?

So what is it? What is the thing that matters most to you today? Healing? Peace? Clarity? Strength? Hope? Ask Him. Do not waste the moment. Bartimaeus asked to see, and he did. He not only got his sight, but he got a Savior to follow. What you desire might be the start of something far greater than you can imagine.
