Whose Glory Are You Seeking?
"Jesus answered them, ‘My teaching isn’t mine but is from the one who sent me.’” – John 7:16
Jesus lived every second of His life for the glory of the Father. That was His focus. That was His motivation. He didn’t seek applause or chase popularity. His message and His methods were shaped entirely by the will of God, not the opinions of people.
Even though He lived in perfect obedience, people still questioned Him. They accused Him of being demon-possessed. They called Him names. They misunderstood His mission. But none of that distracted Him. Why? Because He wasn’t living for their approval. He was living for His Father’s.
You and I have to wrestle with that same tension. Are we seeking the glory of God, or are we chasing the glory of this world? Are we following the plan God gave us, or are we adjusting our lives to meet the expectations of people who may never understand?
If we really want to walk as Jesus walked, we have to care more about faithfulness than fame. We have to be willing to be questioned, misunderstood, and even criticized. Because if we are doing what God has called us to do, that is enough.
There is great freedom in letting go of the need to be seen a certain way. You don’t need to impress anyone. You don’t need to prove yourself. Just walk closely with God and stay committed to His word. Jesus showed us what that looks like, and He told us that if we do the same, our lives will bear fruit that brings glory to the Father.
When you wake up tomorrow, ask yourself this simple question: Whose glory am I living for today? Let your answer shape your steps, and you will find a deeper purpose and peace that no approval from this world can ever match.
