Where Security Really Comes From
"But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you" - Matthew 6:33
Everybody wants to feel secure. You want to know that the bills will get paid. That your kids will be alright. That your body will stay healthy. That the people you love will stick around. But the more you try to control everything, the more it slips through your fingers. That is where worry shows up. It always fills the space where trust should be.
Jesus tackled this head-on in Matthew 6. He looked right at a crowd of people who were stressing about food, clothes, and the future, and He told them not to worry. Not because their needs were small. But because their God was big. He reminded them that God feeds birds and dresses wildflowers. He sees what they need. He knows what they are facing.
Then He gave the answer. Seek first the kingdom. Not second. Not when everything settles down. Put Him first and trust that He will take care of what you need. That sounds simple, but it is not always easy. Because seeking the kingdom first means surrender. It means letting go of control and believing that God is not just aware of your needs, but He is already working on them.
Worry thrives where surrender is missing. That is why Jesus calls us to something deeper. You will never feel secure just by trying harder to hold everything together. You find security when you fully let go and trust the One who never drops what is placed in His hands.
Some folks think surrender is weakness. But it is actually the strongest thing you can do. It takes guts to stop wrestling with life and finally trust the God who runs it. You are not made to carry everything. You are made to walk in step with the One who can.
If you are tired of feeling anxious and stretched thin, maybe it is time to stop trying to be in charge and start letting God be your provider. That is where true security begins. Not in control. In surrender.
