Go to the Right Well
"But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you." - Matthew 6:33
Out in the fields, wildflowers bloom without trying. They do not strain to grow or panic about the weather. They just receive. God provides the sun, the rain, and the soil. Everything they need comes from outside themselves. And Jesus says we should take a good look at that.
That is not just poetic. That is a reminder. Because you and I were not built to be our own source either. When we start thinking we have to figure everything out on our own, that is when worry creeps in. We start running to every other well, looking for peace, security, and answers. But if the source is wrong, the perspective will always be wrong too.
Jesus made it simple. Seek first the kingdom of God. Make Him your first pursuit. Not your backup plan. Not your Sunday habit. Your source. Your starting point. And when He’s first, everything else falls into place. Maybe not all at once. Maybe not how you pictured it. But it will be enough. He promised that.
The problem is, we live in a world that pushes us to hustle for what God already said He’d handle. So we keep grinding, comparing, checking the bank account, checking the mirror, checking the future. And the whole time, we’re drinking from empty wells. That’s why it never satisfies. That’s why it never feels like enough.
If you want peace, go to the source. If you want direction, go to the source. If you want to stop worrying about things that were never in your control to begin with, go to the source. He’s not just able. He’s willing. He’s personal. And He’s already paying attention.
The next time your soul feels dry and stretched thin, ask yourself a simple question. Where am I going to be filled? If it’s not God, it won’t work. But if it is, you can trust that He will take care of the rest. Just like He always has.
