Your Obedience Can Spark Salvation in Others

"And as Jesus reclined at the table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and were reclining with Jesus and his disciples." – Matthew 9:10

It all started with one yes. Jesus called Matthew to follow, and Matthew obeyed. But what happened next reveals something powerful about obedience: It ripples. Matthew opened up his home and brought Jesus to the table, not just for himself but for others. And because of that simple act, people who would’ve never invited Jesus into their lives were suddenly sitting right next to Him.

Obedience isn’t just about what God wants to do in you. It’s also about what He wants to do through you. When you say yes to Jesus, others get closer to Him, too. That’s what happened in Matthew’s house. The same man who once collected taxes now hosted a moment that changed lives. Not because he preached a sermon, but because he used what he had to bring people near to Jesus.

Your story matters. Your table matters. Your yes might be the bridge that brings someone else into contact with grace. You do not have to be a preacher or pastor to make an eternal impact. Sometimes all it takes is the courage to follow and the willingness to include others in the journey.

You never know what one act of faith might spark. You never know how many people could meet Jesus because you chose to say yes. The ripple of your obedience might reach far beyond what you can see today. Keep following. Keep opening the door. Your obedience might just be the beginning of someone else’s salvation story.
