Jesus Knows Your Name

"Jesus then asked him, ‘What is your name?’ And he said, ‘Legion,’ for many demons had entered him." - Luke 8:30

Before Jesus cast out the demons, before He healed the man in Luke 8, before anything changed on the outside, He asked a simple question: “What is your name?” That might seem like a small detail, but it speaks volumes about the heart of God. Jesus was not just dealing with a problem. He was engaging a person.

This man had been cast out of his community. He was isolated, tormented, and living in total chaos. People knew him by his dysfunction, but Jesus wanted to know him by name. That is how He still works today. He sees beyond the mess. He is not overwhelmed by your issues. He calls you personally and intimately, not by your struggle but by your name.

Maybe you feel buried under the weight of your past, your pain, or your failures. You might wonder if God even sees you at all. But Jesus has never lost sight of you. You are not another face in the crowd. You are not too far gone. You are not forgotten.

In a world that often reduces people to labels, roles, or numbers, Jesus sees you as a whole person. He knows your story. He knows your wounds. And still, He calls you. Not to shame you, but to heal you. Not to expose you, but to restore you.

The moment Jesus spoke to that man by name was the moment his story began to change. The same can be true for you. You may be surrounded by chaos or weighed down by shame, but Jesus still knows your name. And He is calling you toward freedom, healing, and new life. All you have to do is answer.
