Your Story is Your Message
"Return to your home, and declare how much God has done for you." - Luke 8:39
Not everyone feels ready to share their faith. Maybe you think you need to know more Scripture. Maybe you believe you have to be perfect first or have all the answers. But if Jesus has changed your life, you already have something to say.
In Luke 8, Jesus delivers a man who had been consumed by demons. It’s one of the most dramatic transformations in the New Testament. The man had been isolated, tormented, and hopeless. Then Jesus stepped in. When the crowd arrived, they found him clothed, in his right mind, sitting calmly at Jesus’ feet. That kind of change didn’t need a sermon. It spoke for itself.
What’s powerful is what Jesus tells him to do next. The man wanted to stay with Jesus, but instead, Jesus sends him back home with one assignment: tell people what God has done for you. Not a theology lecture. Not a persuasive argument. Just your story.
That’s still the assignment today. Your story may not involve demons or dramatic healing, but it carries weight because it’s real. People can argue with opinions, but they can’t deny experience. And someone out there needs to hear that God can change a life like yours.
You might think your story is too messy, too boring, or too broken. But the moment Jesus entered it, it became powerful. Testimony isn’t about how impressive your past was. It’s about how faithful God has been.
So don’t hide your story. Don’t wait until it feels polished. God isn’t looking for perfection; He’s looking for honesty. The people around you don’t need a perfect Christian. They need a real one. Tell them what Jesus has done for you. It might be exactly what they need to hear.
