Fake Fruit Won’t Fool God
"Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit." - John 15:2
Appearances can be deceiving. A tree might look healthy from a distance, but the real test is its fruit. Jesus made it clear in both John 15 and Matthew 7 that God is not fooled by what’s on the outside. Real fruit, the kind that comes from true connection to Christ, is the only thing that matters.
You can know the right words, attend the right places, and fit into all the Christian spaces. But without the Spirit at work in you, changing you and shaping your life, it’s all just empty branches. In Matthew 7, Jesus warned that there will be people who did impressive things in His name, but He will still say, “I never knew you.” That should wake us up.
Fruit is not about talent, title, or activity. It is about evidence. The kind of evidence that shows up in how you treat people, how you respond under pressure, how you forgive, how you serve, and how you obey. Galatians 5 lists the fruit of the Spirit: Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These are not personality traits. They are proof of the Holy Spirit inside you.
The good news is that God is not expecting you to manufacture this fruit. He is calling you to remain connected to Him so that His life flows through you and produces it naturally. That is why Jesus said, “Apart from me you can do nothing.” You cannot fake what only the Spirit can form.
This is not about fear or pressure. It is about truth. Let your life reflect real connection, not just convincing impressions. Let your faith be more than words. Let it bear fruit that lasts. Because fake fruit might fool people, but it will never fool God.
