A Dangerous Kind of Prayer
"But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." – Matthew 6:33
Most of us were raised to ask for protection. We pray for safe travels, safe choices, safe outcomes. And there is nothing wrong with asking God to protect us. But if safety becomes our top priority, we risk missing the very places God wants to move through us. Jesus never promised safety. He promised the Kingdom.
In Matthew 6:33, Jesus didn’t say seek comfort or security. He said to seek the Kingdom. That is a dangerous prayer, because it shifts the focus away from our own ease and places it on God’s agenda. It is a bold cry that says, “Lord, use me,” even if it costs something. Even if it’s uncomfortable. Even if it leads to opposition.
What if your prayer today wasn’t, “Lord, keep me safe,” but instead, “Lord, make me bold”? What if the goal wasn’t just to avoid hardship but to carry truth into hard places? When you start praying dangerous prayers like that, you start stepping into territory where God shows up in ways you could never manufacture on your own.
Dangerous faith is not reckless, but it is relentless. It moves forward when fear says to back down. It stays faithful when results are unclear. It keeps seeking the Kingdom, even when safety feels easier. That’s where God moves. That’s where transformation begins.
If your faith has grown comfortable, it might be time to pray a little more dangerously. Ask God to stir boldness in your heart. Ask Him to make you ready for Kingdom impact, not just personal ease. Because the safest place to be is not the most protected, but the most surrendered.
