Stay Rooted in the Right Source
"Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving." - Colossians 2:6-7
Everyone talks about growth. Whether it’s personal development, spiritual maturity, or reaching the next level in life, people are hungry to move forward. But the truth is, real growth doesn’t come from chasing more. It comes from digging deeper into the right source.
The Christian life isn’t about always finding a new book, a new podcast, or a new routine to unlock the next level of your faith. It’s about staying connected to Jesus. The same Jesus who saved you is the One who sustains you. Paul reminds us in Colossians that you don’t graduate from the Gospel. You don’t move on from Christ to something more advanced. You keep walking in Him, stay rooted in Him, and let your life be built on that foundation.
That may not sound flashy, but roots are never the part people notice. They grow underground, hidden, slow. But without strong roots, nothing above the surface survives. When life gets hard and the winds pick up, the depth of your roots will determine your strength. And when the drought hits and your emotions feel dry, it’s the hidden root system that keeps you connected to life.
Some of the frustration you may feel right now could come from chasing fruit without tending to the roots. Busyness is not the same as spiritual health. Performing is not the same as abiding. Your role is not to manufacture results but to stay deeply and consistently planted in Christ.
You do that through the Word. Through prayer. Through consistent, daily surrender. Through making time to be with God instead of just doing things for Him. Your roots are your responsibility. Fruit will follow when your foundation is firm. Stay rooted, and everything else will grow from there.
