You Are the Workmanship of God
"For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." - Ephesians 2:10
When you look in the mirror, what do you see? Most people see flaws. They see the weight they wish they could lose, the mistakes they wish they hadn’t made, or the potential they’re scared they’ll never live up to. In a world where worth is constantly measured by success, appearance, and approval, it’s easy to forget the truth. But Scripture doesn’t call you a failure or a fraud. It calls you God’s workmanship.
That word means more than just “something God made.” It means masterpiece. The Greek word used in this verse, poiema, is where we get the English word poem. That means your life is a carefully written, intentionally crafted expression of the heart and creativity of God. He didn’t just assemble you out of spare parts. He designed you for a reason. You were created in Christ Jesus for good works. Not for empty striving. Not for random busyness. But for a meaningful, God-honoring purpose.
You may not always feel like a masterpiece. There are days when your past feels heavier than your hope. There are days when insecurity speaks louder than truth. But your value isn’t anchored in your emotions. It’s anchored in your Creator. You are not the result of accident or chance. You are the work of a divine Artist who knew exactly what He was doing when He made you.
And not only did He create you with care, but He also prepared good works for you to walk in. That means you were born with purpose and invited into a life of meaning. Your story matters. Your voice matters. What you do today, when surrendered to Jesus, carries eternal weight. You do not have to try to become significant. You already are. You are His workmanship. Let that truth silence your insecurity and fill you with confidence to walk in what God has prepared.
