God Is With You Even When Life Makes No Sense
“The Lord was with Joseph, and he became a successful man, and he was in the house of his Egyptian master.” – Genesis 39:2
There are seasons when life feels unfair in ways you cannot explain. You are trying to do the right thing, and things still fall apart. You are praying, and doors keep closing. You are being faithful, and the situation keeps getting harder. Those moments create a quiet tension inside us where we start wondering if God stepped away or if we misunderstood His plan altogether.
Joseph knew that feeling well. His story is full of moments that made no sense. Betrayed by his brothers. Sold into slavery. Doing well in Potiphar’s house, only to be falsely accused and thrown into prison. Nothing about that path feels like the blessing of God. Yet in the middle of all of it, Scripture keeps repeating one simple truth. The Lord was with Joseph. Not after it made sense. Not once it got better. Right there in the confusion.
This is what we often miss. God’s presence is not proven by comfort or clarity. It is proven by faithfulness in the middle of chaos. Joseph did not always understand what God was doing, but he kept living as if God was still with him. He worked hard. He stayed faithful. He honored God even when obedience cost him something. God did not remove the hardship right away, but He never removed His presence.
We tend to measure God’s nearness by how smooth life feels. When things break down, we assume distance. Scripture tells a different story. Sometimes, the clearest evidence that God is with you is that He is sustaining you through something that should have crushed you. The strength to keep going. The clarity to stay grounded. The ability to remain faithful when everything feels upside down. Those are not accidents.
If your life feels confusing right now, hold on to this truth. God has not left you. You are not abandoned. You are not overlooked. His presence is not dependent on your understanding. You may not see the full picture yet, but you are not walking alone. Just like Joseph, you can trust that even when life makes no sense, God is still with you, and He is still working.
