Hiding Never Heals the Mess
"I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself." - Genesis 3:10
Hiding feels instinctive when something goes wrong. When shame shows up, the first impulse is often to pull back, cover up, or pretend everything is fine. Many people learn early that mistakes should be managed quietly. Scripture begins the human story by naming that instinct honestly. Fear leads to hiding, and hiding feels safer than being known.
Shame promises protection, but it delivers isolation. The more something is hidden, the more power it gains. Silence allows fear to grow unchecked. Distance deepens. What could have been healed through honesty becomes heavier through secrecy. Sin does not just break rules. It breaks connection. Hiding does not fix the mess. It locks it in place.
God’s response to hiding is what changes everything. He does not shout from a distance or wait for perfection. He moves closer and invites honesty. Confession is not about punishment. It is about restoration. When truth is brought into the light, bondage begins to loosen. Freedom grows where hiding once ruled. Healing starts the moment secrecy ends.
