Fear Can Jeopardize God’s Purpose
"The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands." - Psalm 138:8
Fear rarely announces itself as rebellion. More often, it shows up as caution, hesitation, or self-protection. Decisions get made quickly because waiting feels risky. Silence feels safer than obedience. In those moments, fear does not aim to destroy God’s purpose outright. It simply nudges you to take matters into your own hands.
Scripture shows how fear can threaten what God is building. When fear leads, choices drift away from trust. Short-term relief replaces long-term faithfulness. God’s purpose does not disappear, but it can be delayed, complicated, or burdened by decisions rooted in anxiety rather than obedience. Fear pulls focus to survival instead of calling.
You have felt this tension. Moments when you knew what was right, but fear offered an easier option. Times when protecting yourself felt wiser than trusting God. Fear convinces you that obedience costs too much. Faith reminds you that disobedience always costs more. God’s plan moves forward best when trust leads the way.
The hope of Scripture is that fear does not have the final word. God’s mercy intervenes even when fear threatens His purpose. He restores direction. He redeems missteps. He remains faithful when human courage fails. God’s plan is not fragile. It is resilient because it is anchored in His character, not your perfection.
God is committed to what He is building in and through you. Fear may slow the process, but it cannot cancel God’s purpose. Mercy steps in where fear steps out of line. Trust reopens what fear tried to close. God continues His work, inviting you back into obedience with patience and grace. His purpose stands firm, not because fear never shows up, but because God never gives up.
