Redeemed to Reflect

"He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins." - Colossians 1:13-14

Christmas is a season filled with light. Homes shine. Streets glow. Trees sparkle. The world seems brighter for a moment. That outward brightness points to a much deeper truth. The light of Christ entered a dark world so that people trapped in shadows could be redeemed and transformed. The manger was not simply a beginning. It was the moment the King stepped into darkness to bring His people into light.

Redemption is more than forgiveness. Salvation is more than a clean record. When God delivers a person, He does not leave them in the same place He found them. Colossians says He transfers His people out of darkness and into the kingdom of His Son. That transfer brings change. It shapes desires, heals wounds, restores purpose, and produces a life that begins to reflect the character of Christ. The One who redeemed you is the One you were meant to resemble.

Think about the night Christ was born. The sky over Bethlehem was ordinary until heaven broke through. Angels filled the darkness with glory. Shepherds were pulled out of fear and into wonder. Mary and Joseph held the Savior who would one day hold the world together. Nothing about that moment stayed the same once the light arrived. Transformation began in a stable and now continues in every heart that receives Him.

Your own story follows the same pattern. God did not save you so that you could remain unchanged. He rescued you so you could reflect the light that saved you. The habits that once defined you begin to lose their power. The attitudes that once controlled you start to shift. The darkness that once shaped your decisions no longer holds authority. Every step in the light makes you look a little more like the One who pulled you out of the shadows.

Christmas reminds you of many things, but do not miss this one. The light that entered the world did not stop in Bethlehem. It entered your life, too. You were not just forgiven. You were transferred. You were redeemed to reflect. Let the light of Christ shine through your words, your choices, and your compassion this season. The world still needs to see Him, and He has chosen to make Himself visible through you.
