Truth in Full Expression
"For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ." - John 1:17
Everyone loves the idea of grace. We want forgiveness. We want mercy. We want a God who is patient and kind. But grace without truth is empty. It cannot save you. It cannot change you. It cannot anchor your life. That is why John makes it clear that Jesus did not come offering grace alone. He came full of grace and full of truth. Both are essential. Both are inseparable. Both are found perfectly in Him.
Truth is not always comfortable, but it is always necessary. Truth tells you who God is. Truth tells you who you are. Truth exposes the things you try to hide so that grace can heal what is broken. Truth calls sin what it is. Truth confronts the lies you believe about your worth, your past, and your identity. Without truth, grace becomes sentiment instead of salvation.
Jesus did not come to flatter you. He came to free you. He did not come to approve your sin. He came to rescue you from it. That is why His truth matters. It is not cold. It is not harsh. It is the truth that leads you to life. When He speaks, He speaks with authority. When He corrects, He corrects with love. When He reveals truth, He does it so that grace can do its work in you.
You cannot build your life on feelings. You cannot anchor your faith in opinions. You cannot grow if you avoid the parts of Scripture that challenge you. The gospel demands truth because truth is what sets you free. And Jesus is that truth. He is the standard, the source, and the foundation of everything you believe.
Grace invites you in. Truth transforms you once you are there. Together they create a life that is forgiven, steady, and whole.
If you want to follow Jesus fully, embrace both. Let grace comfort you and let truth shape you. The Savior who came full of grace and truth will save you, change you, and anchor your life in everything that lasts.
