Stop Asking the Wrong Questions

"Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me." – John 14:1

There are moments when life doesn't make sense. The path is foggy, the timing feels off, and the answers seem delayed or completely missing. In those moments, your heart starts reaching for clarity. You start asking the why, when, and how questions, hoping that if you could just get an explanation, the anxiety would calm down. But have you noticed that Jesus doesn’t always answer those questions directly?

In John 14, Jesus was preparing His disciples for what was coming. He told them He was leaving, and naturally, they were confused. Where was He going? How could they follow? Why was this happening? Instead of giving them a detailed roadmap, Jesus gave them something better. He gave them Himself. Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God, believe also in me. That was His answer. Not clarity. Not a timeline. Trust.

Sometimes the questions we’re asking aren’t the ones God is answering. While you're trying to figure out the details, God is trying to anchor your heart in who He is. He’s not against giving direction, but He’s far more interested in building your trust. Because trust will carry you further than understanding ever could. Faith grows in the space between what you know and what you see.

There’s a peace that doesn’t come from knowing the plan, but from knowing the One who holds it. Maybe the delay in answers is actually a divine setup to deepen your relationship with the Father. Maybe His silence in one area is inviting you to listen more closely in another.

So the next time you’re asking God to explain, pause and ask this instead: God, what are You trying to show me about who You are?

What if the real answer isn’t found in a solution but in surrender? He hasn’t forgotten you. He’s just answering the deeper question your heart actually needs.
